Elephant camps

Plan 1: Day trip to Bago Yoma jungle and visit elephant camp

Detail schedule:

Get up early in morning and leave Taungoo around 6:00 am drive to elephant camp (3 hr) and learn how elephants are working for the logging process (at real elephant working sites). Have lunch in the jungle and come back to Taungoo in the afternoon (arrive around 4 or 5 pm).

 

 

 

Plan 2: Trip to elephant camp ( Overnight)

Detail schedule:

Day 1: Leave Taungoo in the morning around 8:00 am and off-road driving (3hr) to elephant camp. Visit villages and sightseeing on the way (1hr). Elephant ride in the afternoon for about 45 min – 1 hour and overnight at the camp (real working camps).

Day 2: Get up early morning and follow the elephant master (Oo Zi) to chase his elephant which was freed in to the jungle for the whole night and learn how elephants are working for the logging process. Have lunch and drive back to Taungoo (3hr) in the afternoon.

Plan 3: Trip to elephant camp and Karen village (two overnights)

Detail schedule:

Day 1: Leave Taungoo in the morning and off-road driving to Karen village (6hr) and study old Karen tradition and learn how they have to struggle to survive in the jungle. Overnight at the village.

Day 2: Visit the village in the morning and have lunch and then cross jungle drive to elephant camp (3hr). Overnight at the elephant camp.

Day 3: Get up early morning and follow the elephant master (Oo Zi) to chase his elephant which was freed in to the jungle for the whole night and learn how elephants are working for the logging process. Have lunch and drive back to Taungoo (3hr) in the afternoon.

Plan 4: Off-road cross-jungle trip (one overnight in jungle)

Detail schedule: 4.1 (Taungoo to Pyay)

Day 1: Leave Taungoo around 6:00 am drive to elephant camp (3 hr) and learn how elephants are working for the logging process (at the real elephant working site). Have lunch in the elephant camp, and then drive to Karen village (3hr). Overnight at Karen village.

Day-2: Visit village in the morning, have lunch and then drive to Pyay.

 

 

 

( OR) Detail schedule: 4.2 (Pyay to Taungoo)

Day 1: Leave Pyay around 6:00 am drive to Karen village (4 hr) and study old Karen tradition and learn how they have to struggle to survive in the jungle. Have lunch and drive to elephant camp in afternoon (3hr). Overnight at the elephant camp.

Day 2: Get up early morning and follow the elephant master (Oo Zi) to chase his elephant which was freed in to the jungle for the whole night and learn how elephants are working for the logging process. Have lunch and drive back to Taungoo (3hr) in the afternoon.

Plan 5: Off-road cross-jungle trip (two overnights in jungle)

Detail schedule: 5.1 (Taungoo to Pyay)

Day 1: Leave Taungoo in the morning around 8:00 am and off-road driving (3hr) to elephant camp. Visit villages and sightseeing on the way (1hr). Elephant ride in the afternoon for about 45 min – 1 hour and overnight at the camp (real working camps).

Day 2 : Get up early and learn how elephants are working for the logging process (at real elephant working sites). Day 3 : Off-road trip from Karen village to Pyay.

 

( OR) Detail schedule: 5.2 (Pyay to Taungoo)

Day 1 : Start from Pyay around 8:00 am and drive to Karen village (4hr). Have lunch at Karen village and study old Karen tradition and learn how they have to struggle to survive in the jungle. Overnight at Karen village.

Day 2 : Have a walk around the village in the morning and drive to elephant camp around 10am (3hr). Have lunch at the elephant camp. Overnight at the elephant camp.

Day 3 : Get up early morning and follow the elephant master (Oo Zi) to chase his elephant which was freed in to the jungle for the whole night and learn how elephants are working for the logging process. Have lunch and drive back to Taungoo (3hr) in the afternoon.

 

NOTE:

1./accommodations are very basic(school or monastery type with beds on floor in a hall and common toilet)

2./The term ‘elephant camp’ refers to a small village where the families of the elephant people are staying. Sometimes, depending on the camp we are visiting, we may have an opportunity to offer private rooms for our clients. In this case, clients are supposed to stay in double or triple depending on rooms.

3./All reservations should make at least 2 weeks prior to the trip together with names, nationalities, passport numbers, visa numbers, visa type, the date of entry to Myanmar and date of birth of the clients.

Program A

-Take a drive from Kalaw to Magwe village, where the camp is located (50-mins)

-Welcome by our teamwho will lead you to the camp (5mins) walk

-Light refreshment

-Walk (5-7mins) to the river where elephant bath and you can join in feeding and bathing the elephants.

-Exploration of the forest area on elephant back, opportunity to see butterflies, birds and orchids around our conservation area.(30-40 min).

-Lunch will be served in the main camp.

-After lunch, you are free to explore the surrounding area with our local trekking guide.

-You are also welcome to join us by planting regional treesfrom our nursery in our forest recovery efforts.

-Choice of returning to main camp by elephant or by foot (10-20mins)

-Drive back to Kalaw.

 

Program B

-Drivefrom Kalaw to a junction between Pine Ne Bin and TaungNy

-Walk and visit Pa –O and Pa-Laung villages

-Picnic Lunch

-Walk to elephant camp where you see the elephants coming through the river. Clients may feed and baththe elephants with their Mahouts

-Choice of returning to main camp by elephant (or) by feet (15-30mins)

-light refreshment at main camp before heading back to Kalaw

-Drive back to Kalaw…(4-5hours, total walking time)

 

Program C (from hotel/Kalaw-for clients who don’t want to walk a lot)

-Drive to Wet Pyu Ye junction by car.

-Walk to the camp, opportunity to help in our re-plantation project.

-See the elephants coming through the river. (Clients can bath the elephants and feed the elephants with their Mahouts) if they wish..!

-Refreshment at waterfall

-Arrived by elephant for Lunch at our camp.

-Return to main road by feet..

-Back to Kalaw, by car
